connecting the dots

between people, processes & systems

towards business excellence

What we do

CTD business partners are a leadership coaching and business consulting firm located in the U.K. We help businesses to re-centre learning as the core theme by connecting it with the people, the processes and the systems to positively influence business results.

“You don’t develop the business, you develop the people and they develop the business”

We help leaders and managers to develop a learning culture as we believe this is an essential construct at the individual, group and organisational level that differentiates it from a more traditional organisation. Our business model is both unique and firmly grounded in the research-based knowledge that “an organisation’s only sustainable competitive advantage is an ability to learn faster than its competitors and, therefore, to take decisions faster than its competitors.” CTD business partners are committed to supporting business owners, leaders and entrepreneurs to achieve business excellence and success through leadership coaching and business consulting.

Connect with our methodology

Our business model is unique and grounded in the concepts of a learning organisation. The core elements are based around aligning people growth and development with the strategic direction of the business. We believe that a culture of personal growth and development leads to engagement and are the foundations with which organisational excellence should be built upon.

Learning Organisation

Why become a learning organisation?

In most organisations the core theme is about being productive. Management focus their attention on planning, co-ordinating and controlling with the main goal to produce – goods or services. The “doing work” part and the “learning” part tend to be two separate constructs, and learning only takes place after the work has been done and if the resources are available to facilitate the learning. A learning organisation re-centres learning as the core theme by connecting it with the productivity, performance and continuous improvement. A learning culture is seen as an essential construct of the company at the individual, group and organisational level – this is what sits at the core of a learning organisation and what differentiates it from a more traditional organisation.

“In order to get different results … companies and their people actually must begin to think differently”.

Connect with our coaching

There is a common misconception that Business Coaching is used by MD’s, Senior Executives or Managers who are struggling and need help. This couldn’t be further from the truth.
Most of our clients are doing an OK or, more often than not, doing a great job. They have built solid profitable businesses and are usually perceived as high performers. What separates them from the crowd is that they have decided to become even better. They have got excited about running a great company and becoming an outstanding business leader.

Why coaching?

bigstock-Coaching-Concept-78590696

In our experience most people who reach their true potential work with a coach. Taking the sporting analogy, you wouldn’t expect to see a world class athlete get to where they are, without a coach would you? The same can be said in the business world. Business coaching unlocks people’s potential to maximize their own performance, and allows them to drive businesses performance to the next level of excellence.
CTD business partners focusses on developing leaders and managers to become excellent coaches. We believe that coaching is an essential development tool for driving organisational performance and by building internal leadership and coaching capacity, businesses can improve financial results, enhance employee engagement and improve customer satisfaction.
CTD business partners works with companies and their leaders to move from a performance management culture to a coaching culture that builds engagement and improves business results. We help to build an understanding of systems, of dynamics, of relationships between things and people.

“Coaching is realising a person’s potential to maximize their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teaching them”

Leadership coaching

CTD business partners’ suite of leadership assessment tools provides a view of leadership from the individual and the organisational perspective. We believe leadership development is a journey that unpacks and improves over time and ultimately together with knowledge, positively impacts performance. We work with leaders to help them define their journey and support them along the way.
While many assessment tools are quick to define “the right way to lead” CTD’s philosophy is firmly grounded in the research-based knowledge that true leaders take many forms. The old discussion “are leaders born or developed” is no longer a discussion – neither is correct! Leaders draw on a combination of assets and strengths demonstrating that there is no single “right” way to lead.
We take leaders and managers through a suite of assessments over a period of personal coaching that develops a leader’s ability to reflect and become more self-aware - expanding both individual and organisational development.

Connect with our programmes

Connect with our consulting

Our business consulting services focus holistically on our clients’ most critical issues and opportunities. We are specialists in systems thinking and believe that the parts of an organisation are best understood in the context of relationships with each other and with other parts, rather than in isolation. This is why, when we engage with a client, we look at the whole organisation before we engage in any diagnostics. Our proven methodology allows us to see the patterns and diagnose the solutions.
We are specialists in organisational culture, strategy, marketing and operations. We capture value across boundaries and between the silos of any organisation. We have proven a multiplier effect from optimising the sum of the parts, not just the individual pieces - we think systems first, then solutions!

Connect with our thinking

CTD business partners aims to be thought leaders around the concepts of organisational learning and people development. The focus of our blog supports our methodology and approach.

“If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you”

Get ready for a lot of long nights where you think you are useless!

Get ready for a lot of long nights where you think you are useless!

I came out of the gym this morning and whilst waiting for a meeting I was reading the newspaper - remember those things? Not the tablet versions, but a real life newspaper!! Anyway, I was reading an article where the current Scotland football coach (Gordon Strachan) was honest in his assessment of what faces any up-and-coming Scottish coaches, telling them to “get ready for a lot of long nights where you think you are useless”. This resonated with me as somebody who is making the move from corporate leader (gamekeeper) to business coach and consultant (poacher). I wanted to share this within the coaching group as no doubt many of you will have had similar thoughts when you embarked (or are embarking) on your individual journey’s to becoming coaches. It got me thinking about why those types of thoughts permeate our minds? why when we have been successful in one arena do we doubt ourselves? Human nature? Inevitable? DNA? I think the difference between the “useless” and “useful” is down to how we view the change - either as an opportunity or a problem? Glass half full or glass half empty? I believe it is those people that are proactive (half full), begin with the end in mind (vision) and form winning habits that are the “useful”, and the rest……………… well, enough said! We can all doubt ourselves but it is those that have the positive habits that get to where we want that go! The full article is below for those interested in football!... read more
